NICE France

So no we are in NICE
It is drizzling as we drive to the Villa
Villa Leonie is a great place, not great to look at outside - big and square - but our rooms are fantastic. Very high ceilings all painted with lots of colours. 3 big rooms - Bonnie is excited she actually has a bed.

Jilly now has Conjunctivitus, Ear Infection, No Voice and Bad cough but being Sunday nothing open

The first view in the morning is the Port as we walk into town. This is protected by a huge breakwater, and as you can see the boats are much bigger than Tony Blotts was.

And as you keep walking there is a cruise ship towering over the town.

We walked into th old town with a great view over the very long beach, this is the French Riviera

Into Cours Saley which is an open market with fresh flowers and fruit and and food, surrounded by restaurents, and the usual tourist shops

We walked on to Place Massena where there were all these statues of men sitting on poles.

Here there was an italian food promotion so we wandered through there looking at huge Mortadela rolls, whole baked pigs, wheels of parmisan cheese. We drank frozen lemon sorbet with vodka - fantastic!

Back to Safari's restaurent beside the market for lunch.  Great lunch.

It started to rain heavily, very heavily, almost torrential, so we caught a taxi back to the apartment and spent the arvo there while Jilly slept.

Monday 6th June.
Managed to get a doctor for Jilly - she will live!
Then we took the open bus around Nice - as usual moves to fast to get any great photos.
Crap lunch from a patiserie - soggy rolls.
The girls went shopping and I went back to see the Russian Church as it looked great from the bus - and it was
Girls still shopping so i walked through these cute little arcades

and up the hill to get a view over Nice. There was a few steps

and then the view from the top was spectacular
Same view different perspective

Here I found a guy playing great classical guitar and so with a beer in my hand and the music in the background

a pleasant hour was spent. The girls even walked up to meet me (and curse me because it was so much effort) , and I bought them icecream to cool them down.

Tuesday 7th June
Jilly can now taste again, life is worth living!
Off to MonteCarlo - 1 euro each, bus stop in front of Villa, no 100 to Monte Carlo - 30 minute ride along the ocean edge, via Villafrance - deep water harbour - that looked great , and many other small towns.
Got off in the rain in front of Casino, in the rain.

Very nice buildings in this area. They wouldn't let us into the casino because we didn't have our passports or ID on us, but we could see into it, very ornate, pillars, paintings, statues , anyway watch the James Bond movies for a look inside.
Stopped for a pose!

After an ordinary lunch we wandered down into Monte Carlo, past the port and up to the Palace
Here is a view across the port up to the Palace

We toured the palace - very ornate, but who would live there!

Tommorrow on to Berlin
